 | Wednesday, May 7th, 2008: Nixon of New York Rips Anaheim for 5 Hits in 5 At Bats! Trot Nixon put on a hitting clinic today. The New York left fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Anaheim pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. T. Nixon singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off F. Rodriguez in the 9th. Nixon has had a successful run in the league. A consistent veteran, the younger players look up to him for leadership. As long as he maintains a .350 batting average, drives in 13 runs batted in and jolts 4 home runs, as he has done this season, they will continue to admire him. Sure, the body isn't what it was five, ten years ago. But it's baseball, and he is doing what most men his age wish they could do. |
