Major League Baseball News Article | |  | Friday, September 14th, 2007: Cora Shows off His Swing, Hits for Cycle Against Milwaukee Alex Cora grabbed a piece of baseball history today when he hit for the cycle! Cora went 4 for 8 against Milwaukee.
"I felt comfortable at the plate in a way I haven't felt all season," Cora said after the game. "It was like they were throwing beach balls at me tonight. The ball seemed that big to me!"
A. Cora struck out in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, flied out in the 8th, tripled in the 11th, singled in the 13th, flied out in the 15th, grounded out in the 18th and hit a two-run home run off J. Capellan in the 20th.
Banging out base hits at a .283 rate, Cora has chalked up 82 hits in 305 plate appearances in his 75 games this season. Among those numbers are 10 doubles, 8 triples, and 11 four-baggers, along with 39 runs scored and 47 runs batted in. He has also walked 13 times, stolen 7 bases, and fashioned a .311 OBP. | |
