Monday, July 7th, 2008: Chiavacci is Untouchable, Tosses a No-Hitter
Ron Chiavacci made quick work of the Modesto Nuts earlier today. The 30-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter, fanning 4 batters in 9 innings.
"I really didn't have my best stuff today," he admitted after the game, "there's a lot of luck involved in throwing a no-hitter. People don't believe that, but it's true." Luck, or not, Chiavacci will go down in history.

Chiavacci just keeps plugging away. Thus far in 2008 he has fashioned a 11-0 mark, 1.07 ERA and thrown 92.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .153 against him and he has logged 60 strikeouts.
Monday, July 7th, 2008: McCurdy of Stockton Rips San Jose for 5 Hits in 8 At Bats!
John McCurdy really sizzled at the plate in today's game. The Stockton shortstop blistered the San Jose Giants for 5 hits in 8 at-bats.

J. McCurdy singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off F. Murillo in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.

He has put up some solid numbers: 18 doubles, 8 home runs, 57 RBI, 53 runs scored, 22 bases on balls, 13 stolen bases, and a .362 on base percentage. He is a valid contender for the Newcomer of the Year Award, if not the Outstanding Hitter Award.
