 | Tuesday, July 1st, 2008: California League League Batter of the Month Honors Awarded to Magruder of Bakersfield Chris Magruder put his mark on the California League this June by putting together some award-winning numbers. Bakersfield's left fielder tagged 34 hits, 5 homers and drove in 26 runs on his way to the top hitter title. If he keeps this pace up in July, he'll be the running for the Outstanding Hitter Award later this year. Magruder is one of the preeminent hitters in the game this season. His swing is smooth, crisp, and powerful. He has batted .341 with 85 hits--28 for extra bases--and torched pitchers for 61 RBI with 14 doubles and 12 home runs. He also has walked 66 times, stolen 1 bases, compiled a .480 OBP, and scored 71 runs. |
