Thursday, June 12th, 2008: Cuchilla Extra Sharp in Shutout of Winston-Salem
Arturo Cuchilla was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Winston-Salem Warthogs with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a shutout. In the postgame comments, the Winston-Salem skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming, and you still grounded out--and then he threw it even slower."

The Lynchburg hurler had 3 strikeouts, gave up 1 walks, and surrendered 5 base hits in his route-going effort. Cuchilla told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."

Cuchilla is a student of the game. He does his homework on all the hitters, and it seems to be paying dividends this season. The 22-year-old hurler has recorded a record of 4-5. In 14 starts, he has fanned 36 batters in 92.1 innings with a 1.46 ERA.
