 | Tuesday, June 24th, 2008: Indians Blank Pelicans, Carey Notches Win Mike Carey pitched a strong game in blanking the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, allowing no runs on 1 hits, while striking out 1 and giving up 1 base on balls. The Kinston manager said he could tell right away it was going to be a good game for Carey. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," he said. "He threw a lot of strikes." His season stats shape up like this: ERA of 1.94 with a record of 5-5. The 19-year-old Carey has 40 strikeouts in 88 innings on his ledger sheet. |
