 | Monday, July 7th, 2008: Carolina League Player of The Week: First Baseman Tyrell Campanella of Potomac Tyrell Campanella kept his eye on the ball last week, and now all eyes are on him. The Potomac Nationals first baseman swung his way to the Carolina League Player of the Week award by smacking the ball at a .429 clip with 12 hits, including 2 home runs, in 28 at bats for the Potomac Nationals. He scored 6 times and drove in 13 runs. Without debate, Campanella is one of the more productive hitters in the league this season. He is a very strong contender for the Outstanding Hitter Award, posting a .349 average with 90 hits in 258 at-bats, 64 RBI, 12 doubles, and 12 home runs. He isn't just hitting the ball, he is jolting it everywhere. He also has scored 46 runs, walked 26 times, stolen 0 bases, and compiled a .408 OBP. |
