Friday, May 2nd, 2008: Hairston Goes 5 for 7 Against Minnesota
Scott Hairston was the King of Swing today. The Kansas City center fielder stepped into the batter's box 7 times against the Minnesota Twins and delivered 5 hits.

S. Hairston singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, struck out in the 11th, singled in the 14th and flied out in the 14th.

On the year, Hairston has driven in 7 runs and gathered an OBP of .293. He has also clubbed 5 extra-base hits--3 doubles, no triples, and 2 home runs--on the way to a .244 batting average, scored 11 times, stolen 1 bases, and collected 6 walks.
Sunday, April 20th, 2008: Claussen Twirls Minnesota to Shutout Victory
Brandon Claussen was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Chicago White Sox with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a shutout. In the postgame comments, the Chicago skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming, and you still grounded out--and then he threw it even slower."

The Minnesota hurler had 11 strikeouts, gave up 4 walks, and surrendered 3 base hits in his route-going effort. Claussen told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."

Saturday, September 1st, 2007: Vote of Confidence: Twins Denard Span Named AL Rookie of Month Honoree
Denard Span's eyes light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Minnesota center fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. He's 23 and ready to take the American League by storm. And that's exactly what the greenhorn did in August when he racked up a .298 batting average with 37 hits in 138 plate appearances, 7 home runs, 23 RBI, and 23 runs scored this past month. The Twins center fielder not only shook things up around baseball, but he netted the league's Rookie of the Month title in the process.

So far this year Span is batting .360 with a .403 on base percentage. He has scored 48 times, ripped 94 hits, driven in 39 runs, doubled 20 times, and clouted 11 homers.
