Saturday, July 12th, 2008: Mauro Nahoul Humbles Myrtle Beach with Whitewash Job
Mauro Nahoul of the Winston-Salem Warthogs shut out the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, holding them to 4 hits while fanning 1 batters and walking 1. Nahoul said, "I could throw any pitch on any count."

The Myrtle Beach skipper called his game a jewel, saying, "The way he was pitching, it would have been tough for anyone to beat him."

This season Nahoul has crafted a 6-8 mark with a 2.05 ERA in 132 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .195 against him, and he has 24 strikeouts.
Saturday, July 5th, 2008: Dorreen Fires Shutout in Winston-Salem Win
Winston-Salem pitcher Barrett Dorreen put on a show today and walked away with a shutout victory over the Lynchburg Hillcats, throttling them on 1 hits. He just cruised through their lineup, fanning 0 and walking 0 in a strong outing. "He was very efficient, and he hit his spots," his manager said. "He stayed down in the zone and stayed away from the middle of the plate."

So far this year Dorreen has made 18 starts, tossed 120 innings, struck out 30 batters, and walked 33. His record is 6-9 with a 1.65 ERA. He has limited opposing batters to a .190 BA.
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008: Garrett, King of Fling With a No-Hitter!
Darryl Garrett made quick work of the Winston-Salem Warthogs earlier today. The 20-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter, fanning 4 batters in 9 innings.
"I really didn't have my best stuff today," he admitted after the game, "there's a lot of luck involved in throwing a no-hitter. People don't believe that, but it's true." Luck, or not, Garrett will go down in history.

In his first shot in the bigs, Garrett has logged a 10-3 season. He has started 17 games and given up 1.20 in 120.1 innings. He has also struck out 51 batters and walked 40 others.
