The Cubs manager was philosophical after his team was shut out by the Tampa Yankees. "It was just one of those games, wash it off and do better next time," he said. Shannon Dotson blanked them on 1 hits while walking 2 and striking out 3.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs. They were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Dotson said. "I set them up pretty good, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
Currently Dotson has registered 14 wins and 2 losses and pitched 143 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .121 against the Tampa starter. He also has piled up 81 strikeouts and sports a 0.82 ERA. |

Sometimes even Randy LaPlante of Vero Beach isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound. "I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said. This time he made the Daytona Cubs look bad. LaPlante tossed a 4-hit shutout against them, firing 1 strikeout while giving up no bases on balls.
