"I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer from the very first pitch trying to strike a guy out. Normally, you end up behind in the count in that situation."

He blanked them on 1 hits, registering 2 strikeouts and 2 bases on balls. "The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Hooper said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down." Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, the Hickory skipper said, "We got solid pitching, good defense, and we took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations. This was just a solid performance throughout the lineup."
