B Villalobas bent a little, but he didn't break against the Angels. The AZL pitcher hurled a 1-hit shutout in a fine performance, giving up 2 bases on balls and putting down 2 batters on strikes. His manager told reporters after the game, "B is good at getting out of jams. He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."

Arizona Summer League pitchers will attest that it was tough to get Steve Lachie of the AZL Mariners out last week. His all-around performance at the plate made him the league's most recent Player of the Week.
The 18-year-old left fielder boasted a .571 average and a 2.000 slugging percentage, with 4 extra-base clouts among his 4 hits. He scored 3 times and drove in 6 runs in the 2 games he played.
A look at his season totals shows these current stats: 2 doubles, no triples, 3 home runs, and a .368 batting average. He has driven in 9 runs, scored 4 runs, and picked up 1 walks. Lachie has also pilfered 0 bases.

"He's mixing his pitches real well and keeping his composure on the mound," the AZL manager said. "When José Trevino does that, good things happen." These comments came after Trevino and the AZL Mariners shut out the AZL Royals. He whiffed 3 batters, walked 1, and allowed 5 base hits.
