| Breaking News | | Monday, June 30th, 2008: Bakersfield Blanks Inland Empire Behind Livingston He was dynamite today and just blew the opposition away. Bobby Livingston of the Bakersfield Blaze parlayed an exploding fastball, quick-moving slider, and changing speeds into a 1-hit shutout over the 66ers, recording 1 strikeout and no bases on balls. "He was pure nasty with a capital N on the mound. He certainly was king of the hill against us," said the Inland Empire skipper during his postgame press conference.
Livingston is the type of guy who could go on to big things if he keeps putting up numbers like this. So far this season he has totaled 17 starts, 116.2 innings, 56 strikeouts and 24 bases on balls. His record is 14 wins and 1 loss with a 1.39 ERA. Opposing hitters have hit only .157 against him. | | Thursday, June 26th, 2008: Tibón Shuts out Lancaster "My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus. He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location." And that's what Coco Tibón did as he led the 66ers to a shutout victory over the JetHawks.
"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," the Lancaster manager said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching." Tibón rang up no strikeouts, gave out 4 walks, and yielded 4 base hits.
Tibón makes scouts wonder why they didn't draft him. He might not appear to be much at first, but the guy just has that presence about him, a maturity beyond his years, that could signal a long pro career. The 19-year-old pitcher has won 4 and lost 4, collecting 26 strikeouts and 32 bases on balls in 73.1 innings with a 2.33 ERA. Opponents have hit .194 against him. | | Sunday, June 22nd, 2008: Barnes Breezes to Shutout Victory over Inland Empire Modesto hurler Solomon Barnes was at his best as he whitewashed the Inland Empire 66ers today. "He just kept the ball down, did a good job, made his pitches," said the Inland Empire manager. "We didn't do a good job making adjustments, so we helped him out a little bit." Barnes fired a 2-hitter and totaled 5 strikeouts and 1 base on balls in the shutout performance.
Currently this season Barnes has numbered 1 win and 4 losses and pitched 36.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .211 against the Modesto starter. He also has 10 strikeouts under his belt. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 28-61, .315 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 24.0 GB | | Record at home | 19-25, .432 PCT | | Record on the road | 9-36, .200 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-8, .429 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 19-27, .413 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 11-14, .440 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 17-47, .266 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in April | 9-15, .375 PCT | | Record in May | 7-21, .250 PCT | | Record in June | 10-16, .385 PCT | | Record in July | 2-9, .182 PCT |
